ABS CBN News: Young Professionals Facing Quarter Life Crisis featuring Mitzi Uy of Mori Notes7/21/2018 Hi, Mitzi here. :)
So this news has been making its rounds online. That’s probably because I had undergone quarter-life crisis like some of you. Let me take this opportunity to share my story. When I graduated college, my dream job was to be part of the marketing team of the leading food chain in the country. I was blessed to have it. I was surrounded with nice colleagues and very supportive bosses. The job was fun and challenging. But after almost 2 years, I didn’t know why, but I just felt empty. I felt I was meant to do something else but I didn’t know what. So at the age of 23, I left the corporate world in search of my life’s meaning and purpose. (Now, I’m not suggesting you to quit work like I did. Perhaps you can watch the video below for my advice.) My theory was the best way to know my purpose is to get to know my Creator -- who alone knows my purpose since before I was born. So for the next three years, every morning after I wake up, I would read my Bible, one chapter a day. I wrote these life lessons in journals, and soon I started making journals for myself and other family members. Those three years may seem unproductive since I was not working. But God has a reason for seasons like this (or even seasons of boredom and meaninglessness at work). It was in these dry & parched years that I was able to discover truths about God and myself, lessons that guide me for the rest of my life. I discovered that to show love to Jesus is to show love to the least of my brothers and sisters (Matthew 25). I discovered that I have a burden for less fortunate mothers who would need to work far from home. I discovered that I love to create things from scratch. I discovered that I have to use my talents (Matthew 25) and make a living (1 Thes. 4). I then realized, maybe I should use my creativity to start a business and provide livelihood to other women. That’s how God led me to Mori Notes; hence the name Mori which in Hebrew means “God teaches”. And that’s why we started with journals.
